2015 Hillcrest Strong First Responder Fitness Challenge September 13th 2015 Cancelled
When: Sunday, September 13th 2015.
Time: 3:00 PM. After the City of Lyndhurst, Ohio Home Days Parade.
Where: Tennis Courts at the City of Lyndhurst, Ohio Community Center at 1341 Parkview Drive, Lyndhurst, Ohio 44124.
What is a First Responder?
A First Responder is a Firefighter, Police Officer, or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) responsible for arriving first to the scene of an accident or emergency to provide assistance. These are the men and women that we count on every day to keep us safe.
Challenge:
First Responders include Firefighters, Police Officers, and Emergency Medical Technicians or EMTs.
First Responders from local Hillcrest cities will come together on Sunday, September 13th 2015 to compete for bragging rights in taking home the title of 2015 Hillcrest Strong First Responder Fitness Challenge Champions for their respective city.

WHERE: Race begins and ends at Legacy Village. Parking will be available onsite.

- 7:00 AM Check-In, Legacy Village Center Courtyard.
- 8:00 AM L’il Leggs Run, Free for kids under 4.
- 8:15 AM 5K (3.1 miles) Run / Walk Begins, Strollers and Walkers are Permitted.
- 9:30 AM Awards and Recognition.

AWARDS: Awards provided for Top overall male and female. Top finisher by age group: 15 and under; 16-20; 21-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; and 60 and over.
SHIRTS: Guaranteed shirts for the first 250 participants.

ABOUT: Please join us to hear renowned Cleveland Clinic heart experts Steve Nissen, MD, and Marc Gillinov, MD, discuss your heart health and how to keep your heart healthy at every stage of life.
Dr. Nissen is the chair of Cardiovascular Medicine at Cleveland Clinic and co-author of Heart 411. He is a nationally recognized expert on cardiovascular care.
Dr. Gillinov is a cardiac surgeon at Cleveland Clinic and co-author of Heart 411. New Year, New You! Couch to 5k Training Program Beginning January 26, 2015

ABOUT: Whether your New Year resolution is to run your first 5k or improve your running technique in your latest 5k, our trainers can help you do just that with the Couch-to-5k (C25K) Training Program!
In a small group setting, you will progress through the 12 week program increasing your running stamina, increasing strength and flexibility, and learning about hot topics associated with preparing for Race Day, such as progression of training, nutrition, and ideal performance gear.

Live Long Lyndhurst and Cleveland Metroparks Snowshoe Event February 8, 2015
WHEN:
Sunday, February 8th 2015 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
WHERE: Acacia Reservation, 26899 Cedar Road, Lyndhurst, Ohio 44124.
COST: $15.00 per person. Snowshoes and hot cocoa provided. Cost is the same for adults and kids. Please note that program fees are not refundable unless Cleveland Metroparks cancels the program.
KIDS: Ages 8 and over with participating adult.
SNOW: If there isn't enough snow to snowshoe, the program will be cancelled.
WAIVER: A signed waiver is required for each participant. Download the waiver here, print, sign and bring with you. Forms will also be available onsite.

ABOUT: Embrace winter by raising your heartbeat with an invigorating snowshoe hike!
Snowshoes and hot cocoa provided. No special boots required; but waterproof footwear and layering of non-cotton clothing is suggested.
Participants will learn how to snowshoe. Instruction will be given on the parts of a snowshoe, how to fit a snowshoe, and snowshoeing techniques. The instructor will then lead a group hike demonstrating these snowshoeing techniques.
